Pilot Corpus of Undergraduate Information Systems Writing in Qatar

The aim of this project is to build an electronic corpus of undergraduate academic written English in Qatar to: (1) track patterns of student academic writing development; (2) inform instructors on the genre structures and language patterns that should be the focus of their writing instruction, (3) provide access to authentic examples of academic written English for use in the development of language-learning materials; (4) enable large scale and systematic analysis of student writing; and (5) serve a basis for ongoing research on language use and development in Qatar that will be of interest to scholars worldwide.
