Bio

Reya Saliba serves as the Instruction and Outreach Librarian at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q). She earned her Ph.D. in e-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning from Lancaster University and holds a Master of Economics and Social Studies in Information and Library Studies from Aberystwyth University.

 

At CMU-Q, Reya teaches foundational research and information fluency skills to first-year students and provides comprehensive research support through individual and group consultations with students, faculty, and staff. Her areas of expertise include research methodology, information literacy, literature review development, citation management, and scholarly communication practices including open access.

 

Along with these educational responsibilities, Reya spearheads the CMU-Q library’s outreach initiatives, actively contributing to the college’s broader outreach endeavors. By forging strategic collaborations with CMU-Q’s academic divisions and student clubs, Reya engages with the broader academic community through the development and facilitation of innovative library programs and workshops that serve CMU-Q, Education City, and the wider Qatar community.

 

Beyond her core responsibilities, Reya is an active member of the CMU-Q AI Working Group, where she plays a vital role in advancing the university’s strategic vision of fostering a dynamic artificial intelligence ecosystem that enhances academic excellence and innovation. 

Previously, Reya served as the EcoCampus committee SDG coordinator collaborating with fellow committee members to align CMU-Q faculty research outputs with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This collaboration resulted in the creation of a dashboard designed to effectively illustrate academic contributions. Additionally, Reya served in several local committees, including the Tartans Community Day committee, the Outstanding Academic Support Award committee, the Senior Leadership Award committee, and the Thorpe Award committee. Furthermore, Reya’s involvement in the CMU Libraries’ Campus Outreach and Engagement Working Group and her role on the Core@CMU Steering Committee reflect a commitment to fostering engagement and collaboration between the Qatar and Pittsburgh campuses. These efforts aim to build meaningful partnerships and enhance academic exchanges.
