Carnegie Mellon Qatar provides students with the support and resources to succeed and thrive in their undergraduate studies. From the first semester, students receive guidance, advice and encouragement to make the most of the educational experience.

Education Office

The Education Office guides the academic activities at CMU-Q, including course selections and offerings, experiential learning opportunities, academic awards and achievements, and graduation requirements. The  Education Office is led by the Senior Associate Dean for Education.

Enrollment

First-year students are automatically registered for their first semester. For subsequent semesters, students consult with their advisors and the Education Office as they choose the best courses to complete their studies.

Course Planning

Students can consult with their advisors and the Education Office on class schedules, course registration, recommended curriculum, typical course sequence and requirements for minors.

Advising

The Education Office helps with advising incoming first-years, interdepartmental transfers, and students who are approaching graduation.

The CMU-Q Library supports the academic and research programs at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.

Information Technology

CMU-Q has excellent resources to support the information technology needs of students, faculty, staff and researchers. 

  • Audiovisual and classroom technology consists of state-of-the-art infrastructure in all classrooms and lecture halls.
  • Clusters are CMU-Q computer labs that are equipped with teaching software, and used for classes and homework assignments.
  • Every CMU-Q student has an Andrew ID, which is the gateway to the computing environment at Carnegie Mellon. The Andrew ID gives students access to email, printers, clusters, network, software, and other resources.
