CMU-Q students hail from 40 different nations

Diverse group includes first-ever students from Albania, Japan and Kazakhstan

DOHA, QATAR – For the academic year 2016-17, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar’s students represent 40 nations, including its first-ever freshmen from Albania, Japan and Kazakhstan.

In official numbers released last week, CMU-Q announced that 413 students are currently enrolled, including 100 new students. Ilker Baybars, dean and CEO of CMU-Q remarked that, “We are educating our students to be global professionals, to understand how to negotiate and thrive in an international setting. Throughout their undergraduate education, our students work together, create projects and compete as teams, building crucial skills to work in a global marketplace.” For the new academic year, Qatari enrollment increased to 43%.

Carnegie Mellon Qatar offers five undergraduate degree programs in business administration, biological sciences, computer science, computational biology and information systems. Applications are now being accepted for August 2017 admission.
