Get Involved

When classes are over, there is still so much to do at CMU-Q. Student-led clubs, community events, and volunteer opportunities bring you closer to your classmates, develop your skills and expand your horizons.

Cohort-Building Experiences

Student class representatives organize weekend and break-week experiences for the four classes so students can bond away from campus. Favorites have included kayaking excursions, the senior dhow cruise, movie night, and ice skating.

Student Majlis

Student Majlis

Student Majlis is CMU-Q’s student government body, elected each year by the students. Student Majlis guides much of the life and activities on campus, and they are a critical liaison between the students and faculty and staff.

Clubs and Organizations

Each year, students form dozens of funded, official clubs that cater to a wide range of interests. Some clubs are academic-centred, where students delve deeper into topics they learn in class. Others are purely recreational, including clubs for sports, special interests, and community service. Clubs shift every year as students share their talents, interests and enthusiasm with their classmates.

Events

Events

Each year, the CMU-Q building is the backdrop for hundreds of events, big and small. Some perennial favorites are Tarnival, Tartans Got Talent, Backyard Battles, and International Night. Many students participate in organizing these events, building their resumes and learning how to navigate complex organizational challenges.

Volunteering and Community Service

Students help to shape key aspects of how CMU-Q operates in many crucial ways. Particularly in the areas of sustainability, health, and diversity, equity and inclusion, student advocates work with faculty and staff to ensure the campus reaches its strategic goals.
