Narrative, Identity, and Multiculturalism in a Rapidly Developing Globalized City

This study explores the relationship between narrative, identity, and place in Doha by interviewing longtime residents about their life experiences. The diverse population and rapid pace of development in Doha make it an interesting site for the study of place. This project is significant to Qatar in two main ways: learning about how people experience place-change here informs our understanding of the balance between tradition and modernity; and the collection of oral narratives contributes to the documenting and understanding of regional history.
